Hi, I’m Sarah- born and raised in Southern California. I decided I would be a photographer when I was 6 (a bit more realistic than the dinosaur I wanted to be when I was 3) and here I am. If I’m not out wandering with my camera I’m probably eating sushi or spending time with people.
My love for pictures came from my grandpa (I called him Pepe- he was French). He was always taking pictures. Constantly. Even of his food. In a stack of prints from Christmas ’78, there’s one of a plate covered in ham, potatoes, green bean casserole and fruit salad. He didn’t leave out anything. I’m the same. My constant companions are my iPhone or a disposable film camera. I take pictures of everything. 20 years from now, when I can’t remember what I did this summer, I’ll have photos- of people I met, buildings and sunsets I saw, or a dessert I had in a tiny restaurant I found by accident. All the simple details in life matter to me.
Annie Leibovitz, when describing her early years as a photographer, said “I wanted reality.”
I agree. So, when it comes to my work and life, I love authenticity. That’s what my photos are about. Hang out and see for yourself. When you’re done, connect with me, I’d love to hear your story.
